Two Events about Co-ops!

Grain Co-op – Kitchen Table Meeting

Join fellow farmers to discuss opportunities for cooperation among regional organic grain growers.  Facilitated by the Local Food and Farm Co-ops, this conversation is a follow-up to prior regional meetings on the topic (hosted by Farms at Work) and reflects renewed interest in developing a grain co-op in east central Ontario. Plan to participate the next day in a workshop in Peterborough on setting up a co-op!

Thursday Dec. 7th   from 1-3:30pm  at Headwaters Community Farm and Education Centre. Cobourg, ON.

Space is limited to 30 people, so please RSVP by calling 705-931-6074 or via email to peggy@localfoodandfarm.coop

Starting a Food or Farm Co-Op 101

For over 100 years, co-ops have been addressing community problems through collective and democratic decision-making, based on a set of shared principles. The business structure with the highest rates of success, co-operatives are a wise choice for future businesses. As a result we have seen a wave of new successful food and farm co-ops across North America to address issues of local food systems and economies.

This workshop will explain the fundamentals of what a co-op is, how food and farm co-ops are structured and some key steps to getting your co-op started. Presentation by Peggy Baillie of Local Food and Farm Co-ops. Hosted by Farms at Work. Register at the link below!

Friday December 8th, 1 - 4 PM at 270 George St N in Peterborough
