Join our Board of Directors

Farms at Work is a registered charity. Our mission is to support the growth of resilient, thriving farms, contributing to community food security in east central Ontario.

We are looking to grow our Board of Directors and are seeking enthusiastic individuals to join us for a three-year term. 

Ideally, Board members will have an interest in supporting new entrants to farming, keeping farmland in production and building strong local food systems.

We are particularly looking for experience in one or more of the following areas:

• Fundraising and revenue diversification
• Financial management
• Charities and community development
• Social Enterprise/Business development
• Policy

We are striving to build a Board of Directors that represents the diversity of our region. This includes, but is not limited to, diversity of race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, geography and relevant lived experience.

Accountability, professionalism and a positive attitude towards teamwork are highly valued.

Board members commit to

• attending scheduled meetings (up to 8 per year), usually held in the early evening in-person or via Zoom
• responsiveness to correspondence as needed between meetings

The total time commitment expected is 5 hours per month. Directors and Officers Insurance is in place.
